A man has been taken to hospital after being rescued from a gravel pit in Musquash, west of Saint John.
Lt. Rick Else of the Musquash Fire Department says they received a report of a man in distress near West Branch Road and Talbot Road around 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
“Firefighters spotted the man lying at the bottom of the pit after what is believed to have been a sledding accident,” said Else in a news release.
Else said they used a stokes basket to rescue the man and bring him to paramedics at the scene.
“The man was conscious and alert following his ordeal and was transported to hospital by paramedics,” Else said.
There is no word on the extent of the man’s injuries.
