More than $10 million in federal money is going into fixing up the Saint John Airport and making it safer.
Transport Minister Marc Garneau made the major funding announcement Wednesday afternoon at the airport.

With that money, the two runways, the public taxiway, and aprons will be rehabilitated, and major cracks in the pavement and the drainage system will be fixed.
As well, runways will be made narrower to comply with airport design standards and runway end safety areas will be added to both runways.
We asked Saint John Airport CEO Derrick Stanford if this funding can help the airport compete regionally with Moncton, Fredericton, Halifax, and Bangor.
“Anything that makes our airport safer, anything that makes our airport more modern and improves the experiences for our passengers will help us in our bid to win new carriers and new routes,” Stanford says.
