A new trial has been ordered for a Saint John man who was sentenced in May of 2015 for second degree murder in a stabbing death on the west side.
No reasons were given by the New Brunswick Court of Appeal in overturning the conviction of Fred Cormier Junior who claimed self defense.
He was given a sentence of life in prison and would have to serve 10 years before coming up for parole.
23 year old Spencer Eldridge was killed during an altercation outside a home on Lancaster Street in May of 2014. The two had fallen out over a woman.
