Snow, ice, flooding and plunging temperatures have taken a toll on roadway infrastructure this winter.
Potholes have become a common sight on streets and highways throughout southern New Brunswick.
Emily Richard of Gateway Operations, which maintains Highway 1, says crews are doing their best to keep up.
“You may have noticed that we had crews out over the weekend trying to patch up some of those potholes,” said Richard.
Richard said they have crews who patrol the highway 24/7 looking for potholes or any other damages.
She said the public can also report issues to their operations control centre by calling 1-888-860-8399.
“Once they do identify [potholes], we have crews that go out and try to address them as soon as we can,” Richard said, who noted plowing operations take priority during winter storms.
Richard said more permanent repairs will be made in the spring once asphalt plants open and temperatures warm up.
She reminded drivers to keep an eye out for potholes and the crews who are repairing them.
