Two people from Ontario have been charged for trying to deliver drugs to a New Brunswick prison using a drone.
New Brunswick RCMP said they received a call from a correctional facility in Renous around 9 p.m. on Nov. 11.
Officers were told that one or more individuals were trying to deliver drugs to the facility via a drone.
Police received a second report shortly after from an employee who observed the drone on a security camera.
At around 9:45 p.m., officers stopped a suspicious vehicle that had been seen near the facility and arrested the driver and passenger. Inside the vehicle were a drone controller and several electronic devices.
Police say the drone, which crashed at the correctional facility, had a package containing suspected meth, cannabis and other illegal drugs attached to it.
A 23-year-old and a 29-year-old are charged with obstructing a peace officer, unlawfully distributing illicit cannabis, and unlawfully trafficking methamphetamine.
