The Saint John Police Force (SJPF) and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force (KRPF) have arrested two individuals.
On Friday, at approximately 2:43 p.m., as a result of an investigation, members of the SJPF and the KRPF Integrated Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of Patrol Services arrested a 32-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man for weapons-related offenses.
Police stopped a vehicle in the area of Red Head Road and arrested two occupants.
During the vehicle search, police seized a loaded .22 calibre handgun, a .22 calibre rifle, and ammunition.
“Both accused have been arrested for unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition,” reads a release from the SJPF.
Officials also mention that the 35-year-old man has also been arrested for possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a substance believed to be cocaine, and probation violation.
Both individuals were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in provincial court on April 23.
