Performers and vendors are needed for a new event in Grand Manan.
2022 Island Fest will be held from July 29th to 31st.
Councillor Joanne Brown says Island Fest is a result of their newly-formed Arts and Culture Committee.
Brown says the Rotary festival ended a couple of years ago and left a hole in their summer.
“Rotary is putting on a BBQ and we’re doing something with the museum. We are doing a lot of inside things but we also want people from the mainland to come and join in as well,” Brown said.
The event will feature an exercise extravaganza with music and drones, along with a car show, and Brown says they are hoping to add some food trucks.
She said a lot of the activity will happen near the Community Centre but it will spread beyond there.
“It will be all over the island, from one end of it to the other. We’ll do up a schedule so everyone knows what’s going on,” Brown said.
Brown says there will be a real learning curve with a new event but the response from Islanders has been positive.
She said they are looking for people to host children’s activities.
