Canadian officials staging a walkout of a G20 meeting in Washington over the war in Ukraine.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland says she and other allies left Wednesday’s meeting in protest of Russia’s participation.
In a tweet, Freeland says the gathering aims to support the world economy.
She argues Russia should not be included as its attack has escalated economic tensions in recent weeks amid existing pandemic strain.
We’ve been feeling the impact at grocery stores and when filling up our gas tanks.
The world’s democracies will not stand idly by in the face of continued Russian aggression and war crimes. Today Canada and a number of our democratic partners walked out of the G20 plenary when Russia sought to intervene. pic.twitter.com/J67gU810sO
