Some good news for New Brunswick students was announced on Wednesday.
The interest on provincial student loans is being lifted by the Higgs government.
Post-secondary education minister Trevor Holder revealed the change in the legislature on Wednesday.
“We will be eliminating interest on student loans to make post secondary education more attractive by reducing borrowing costs for our students.
This will help both new students making education more affordable and it will also benefit more than 65,000 current borrowers.”
The interest will be lifted for the 2022-23 fiscal year and will be implemented in the fall.
The Higgs government had previously lowered the interest rate on provincial student loans in 2020.
