A big provincial contract worth more than $5 million for a Saint John car dealership.
Loch Lomond Mitsubishi will lease 150 SUVs to the province’s extra-mural program.
The vehicles will help ensure nurses and other professionals can safely make it to their client’s homes, especially during the winter months.
“We are honoured to play such an important role in carrying our front line heroes to their client’s homes,” general manager Fred Chamberlain said in a news release.
“We are very community-driven here at the dealership, and this tender was very close to our hearts.”
The New Brunswick Extra-Mural Program employs about 900 people, including include nurses, social workers, respiratory therapists, registered dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and rehabilitation assistants.
According to the 2020-21 annual report from Extra-Mural/Ambulance New Brunswick, the extra-mural program operates a fleet of 520 vehicles.
“Every 48 months, the entire fleet is replaced, with a certain amount of vehicles replaced on an annual basis,” said the report.
The SUVs are currently on their way to New Brunswick, according to Chamberlain. The first is expected to arrive in July with all 150 expected to be on the road by year’s end.
