Habitat for Humanity Saint John Region has a new chief executive officer.
Dustin Leclerc takes on the role after a successful period leading the Carleton Community Centre on the west side.
Habitat’s board chair Brenda MacCallum said Dustin showed his leadership abilities in overseeing the Centre’s transition from municipal facility to a charitable organization.
“[He’s] well-known in the community, has a strong sense of team-building and leadership. He’s a perfect fit for Habitat for Humanity. We know he’s going to be able to connect with the families we work with,” MacCallum said.
Leclerc previously held management positions with the United Way and St John Ambulance.
“I am incredibly excited to join Habitat for Humanity, and to have the opportunity to work with the dedicated staff, board, volunteers, donors, and community partners in the Saint John region. Safe and affordable housing is a critical need in our region and Habitat plays a significant role in creating solutions. I look forward to working alongside Habitat families through the empowering journey that is home ownership,” Leclerc said.
Outgoing CEO Kevin Perry is moving on to a new career.
MacCallum said Perry did a “fantastic job” over the last four years in helping Habitat for Humanity serve more families.
“We expanded our reach to serve more families and opened a new ReStore in Sussex. Kevin is embarking on new career, and we wish him only the best,” MacCallum said.
