Expect to see another increase at the fuel pumps overnight Thursday night in New Brunswick.
It comes as the province’s carbon tax is set to increase from $40 per tonne to $50 as of Friday.
That will translate into higher prices the next time you visit your local gas station to fill up your vehicle’s fuel tank.
The carbon tax on gasoline will increase by 2.21 cents, from 8.84 cents to 11.05 cents per litre.
For diesel, the carbon tax will go from 10.73 cents to 13.41 cents per litre, an increase of 2.68 cents.
“This will generate an additional $40 million in revenue, which will be recycled back into the New Brunswick economy,” Finance Minister Ernie Steeves said in a recent news release.
Following significant increases on Wednesday night, New Brunswick drivers are now paying as much as $1.73 per litre for gasoline and $2.20 per litre for diesel.
