Another local business has committed to helping meet the critical needs of adults with intellectual disabilities.
The Brighter Futures Fund of L’Arche Saint John got another boost this week.
Moosehead Breweries has donated $10,000.
Zoel Breau of L’Arche Saint John said they are looking at sustainability in their community for the long term.
“So we decided to build an endowment that will help us when it comes to staff support and retirement to sustain and appreciate what people have given to L’Arche over the years. That is the hope of this endowment,” Breau said.
The yearly income earned from the endowment will help the organization sustain its operations and support future growth.
The Sisters of Charity and Frank McKenna are also foundational supporters of the L’Arche Endowment Fund which started last September.
Breau said the situation with COVID-19 is slowly changing so their clients are able to do a bit more than they could before.
He noted their home on the west side of Saint John is considered a long-term care facility so they must still follow COVID regulations.
“Nobody from our home has had COVID yet. We cross our fingers and we try to do our best. The people around us, the family of people, some of our staff start to get COVID in recent weeks,” Breau said.
