You will have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if you want to work for the City of Saint John.
Council passed a new policy this week requiring new employees to show proof of full vaccination or a valid medical exemption.
“As a condition of employment with the City of Saint John, employees hired on or after March 21, 2022, are required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, or a valid medical certificate exempting them from the vaccine,” reads the new policy, adopted on Monday night.
The vaccination policy will not apply to city employees who were hired before March 21.
Council also voted to rescind the previous vaccination and testing policy that had been in place since September.
That policy required all employees to show proof of full vaccination, or wear masks and undergo regular COVID-19 testing.
