The emergency department at the Sussex Health Centre will be closed during evening and overnight hours this weekend.
In a news release issued on Friday, Horizon Health said the temporary closures are due to a shortage of nurses.
The ER will close at 5:30 p.m. Friday, and will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday,
“The Emergency Department will not be seeing patients and clients during the temporary closures and ambulances will be diverted to other hospitals,” Horizon said in the news release.
“All patients and clients requiring urgent medical care will need to seek treatment at another hospital.”
Regular 24-hour emergency department hours in Sussex will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Monday.
People with non-urgent medical needs are encouraged to call Tele-Care 811 with questions about the type of medical attention they require or book a virtual appointment through eVisitNB.
