New Brunswick is tweaking its COVID-19 vaccination policy for provincial government employees.
Vaccination will no longer be a condition of employment for most workers effective next Monday, March 28.
That means the leave without pay for unvaccinated employees will end and they will report back to work.
The exception is for those working in regional health authorities, Extra-Mural/Ambulance NB, and corrections facilities, which the province says remain vulnerable sectors.
Unvaccinated employees in those facilities will remain on leave without pay until fully vaccinated with two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The government says it will reassess the policy in the vulnerable sectors by the end of March.
Full vaccination remains a condition of employment to work in nursing homes and adult residential facilities.
Vaccination requirements for the public service have been in place since mid-November.
