HMCS Halifax is getting ready to bolster NATO forces in support of Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.
The ship will set sail for European waters on Saturday and carry a CH-148 Cyclone Helicopter.
It’s expected to take about two and a half weeks to get to Europe.
The Halifax-class frigate will be stationed in the Baltic region ready to respond to any ally needs as officials keep a close watch on the conflict in Ukraine.
The departure was announced by the federal government last month. Russia began attacking Ukraine three weeks ago.
The ship and its 253 crew members will leave at 2 p.m. for the six-month deployment.
