A transport truck fire tied up traffic along part of Route 7 south of Petersville Hill on Thursday morning.
The Welsford Volunteer Fire Department said it was called to the scene near kilometre marker 53 just after 8 a.m.
Eight firefighters and two apparatus responded and found a truck “fully involved in fire,” the department said in a Facebook post.
Firefighters used a combination of foam and water to quickly knock down most of the fire.
“Crews were hindered by passing motorists passing too closely and quickly to operations and made the quick decision to close the highway for firefighter safety until RCMP arrived to assist,” said the post.
No one was hurt in the incident, and fire crews were on the scene for about two-and-a-half hours cleaning up and waiting to have the vehicle removed.
