Officials say one person has died following a workplace incident at the AIM Recycling facility in Saint John.
Emergency crews were called to the industrial facility on the city’s west side around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said one male was injured and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
“The Saint John Police Force’s Major Crime Unit is working with [WorkSafeNB] to investigate the incident,” police said in a news release.
WorkSafeNB confirmed there had been a workplace fatality at the site and that it has launched an investigation.
“As this is an active investigation we cannot provide any additional details,” Laragh Dooley, executive director of corporate communications, said in an email.
The Department of Environment, which oversees AIM Recycling’s approval to operate, directed all questions to WorkSafeNB.
