Public Health announced 10 new cases of COVID-19 today, including nine in the Edmundston region (Zone 4).
Six of those cases are related to previously confirmed cases, while three are under investigation.
The remaining case was discovered in the Saint John health zone, Zone 2, and is related to travel.
Seven people recovered since Saturday, and there are now 153 active cases province-wide.
Twenty patients are currently battling the virus in New Brunswick hospitals, 12 of whom are in an intensive care unit.
Edmundston School Infection
Staff and students of École Saint-Jacques in Edmundston have been asked to self-isolate until Friday, April 23, after a confirmed case was discovered at the school.
Public Health will test the school community in the meantime.
A possible exposure was also discovered at Cité-Des-Jeunes-A.-M. Sormany in Edmundston, and the province is asking anyone who may have been at the school on April 12 to self-monitor for symptoms.
Public Exposures
Public Health also announced of a few new public exposures of the virus, two of which were in the Saint John region.
- April 13 between 2:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. – Rocky’s Sports Bar (7 Market Sq., Saint John)
- April 13 between 3:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. – Service New Brunswick (15 King Square North, Saint John)
A possible exposure was also announced for Air Canada Flight 318 from Calgary to Montreal and Air Canada Flight 8906 from Montreal to Moncton on April 15.
Anyone who was at a public exposure area is eligible for asymptomatic testing under the province’s updated guidelines, even if they are not experiencing symptoms.
Vaccine Rollout
The province also updated its vaccine rollout Sunday, announcing 27 per cent of New Brunswickers have received at least one dose.
That makes 178,578 residents to receive at least one dose of the 197,092 that have been administered province-wide.
The provincial dashboard indicates 22,230 new doses should arrive in the province April 19.
