Dolly Parton has come a long way from the one-room cabin she was born in on the banks of Little Pigeon River in Tennessee. Her resume is extensive and includes singer, songwriter, actor, multi-instrumentalist, businesswoman, and humanitarian. And now she’s saving lives! Earlier this year, Dolly donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Her donation has helped fund the research needed to develop Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine and she encourages others who can afford it to do the same.
