There’s a happy ending after a kitten was taken from from the Pet Value on Mountain Road in Moncton.
Milo the kitten was staying at the pet store, in an effort to help find him and his bonded paid a forever home.
After video of two people leaving the store with the kitten went viral locally on social media, Pet Value Manager Lori Ryan says Milo was returned this morning.
“We opened the front door and put the kitten in the front door in a carrier. She said something to the sales clerk, but she wasn’t sure what she said and there was a note attached to it. She left and it was Milo. We were all in tears.”
Milo is from Fortunate Felines Cat Rescue, who have their cats at the store in an effort to help find them forever homes.
Co-Founder Tammy Robichaud was sick to her stomach when she learned Milo was missing and that someone would do this. Anyone interested in the cats, are welcome to apply to adopt them.
Ryan says she has been at the store for four years, and has never had reports of someone taking a cat before.
“The note did says that they did not do anything harmful to the kitty, they did love him. They thought giving him back was the right thing to do. He is happy being back with his friends,” Ryan says.
She says Milo is doing great since his return, “We got him back, and we all hugged him. We kind of felt like he knew there was something going on because he loved all of the attention. We put him back with his two friends and he seems to have settled back in.”
Ryan says they will be keeping the cats in the cage for now until they can speak to the Fortunate Felines Cat Rescue, “We like have the cats run around the store because they love that. People love to come in and see the cats everywhere. People pick them up and bond with them and that’s how they get adopted. Right now, we are just letting them out at night when there are no customers, but we will be talking to Tammy to see what steps we can take to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
