A Friday evening boat fire is under joint investigation by city police and the fire department.
No one was injured in the blaze, after firefighters were called to a scene on Newman Street in the north end around 10:13 P.M.
After Quint 5 fire engine arrived, crews discovered an outboard motorboat engulfed in flames that was dangerously close to a home and live power lines.
At that point, Engine 8 from the Millidgeville Fire Department was called in to help.
Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading to the nearby home, and remained on the scene for about two hours.
Saint John Energy helped deal with the live power lines, while Saint John Police were on hand for traffic and crowd control purposes.
