Another well-known Saint John festival has fallen victim to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organizers of the Buskers on the Bay Festival announced Thursday the decision to cancel this year’s event.
“Buskers on the Bay Festival is a signature event of our region and our community will definitely miss the exhilarating working acts, children’s activities and the extensive range of vendors that we had planned,” said the statement.
“But the safety of our community is our first priority and we understand the importance to cancel all large events and mass gatherings to help minimize the spread of the virus.”
The news comes after the province ordered the cancellation of all large events through the end of the year.
“It is definitely disappointing to have to make this decision but we have big plans to celebrate both our 30th & 31st anniversaries of the Buskers on the Bay Festival in 2021,” said organizers.
Buskers on the Bay was set to take place from July 15 to 19.
