A 37-year-old woman is looking at several charges after an incident on Wright Street.
Saint John police were searching a home late Wednesday afternoon for a woman wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
Police say they they confronted her, one officer was sprayed with an irritant while the woman barricaded herself in a bedroom with weapons.
The Critical Incident Team and the Emergency Tactical Squad negotiated with her for several hours.
After several attempts to have the woman leave the apartment, officers eventually entered the bedroom and took her into custody.
The injured officer was slightly hurt and is now resting at home.
The woman was arrested on a parole warrant and is also looking at other charges including assault of a peace officer and being unlawfully at large.
