The Saint John Fire Department joined a social media campaign earlier this week to show support for the family of Dylan Ehler.
First responders and residents are posting photos of rubber boots to social media using #BootsForDylan.
Three-year-old Ehler went missing from his grandmother’s years in Truro, N.S., last week.
The campaign is to show love and support to the Ehler family, the Truro community, and local first responders.
Tyler Brown, a firefighter with the Saint John Fire Department, says they posted the photo because Maritimes-based first responders have always supported their own.
“It doesn’t really matter where you go, or what part of the Maritimes you’re in. If you see somebody walking down the street wearing a fire department ball cap on … they’re all part of the same family,” Brown said.
Brown says local firefighters have been in touch with a few members of the Truro Fire Service through mutual friends.
“They’ve obviously had some other difficult situations in the past weeks and months,” Brown said. “So we’re letting them know we’re here for them.”
