Sunday marked a 15th consecutive day with no new cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick.
Despite the positive streak of no confirmed cases, the province’s chief medical officer of Health is encouraging residents to call 811 and seek testing.
“I would also strongly urge New Brunswickers to get tested if they have any two of the symptoms, even if those symptoms are mild,” Russell said, through a release issued by the provincial government.
Currently, the province is considering individuals who are experiencing two of the following symptoms eligible for the COVID-19 test: a fever above 38 degrees, a new or worsening chronic cough, sore throat, runny nose, headache, new onset of fatigue, new onset of muscle pain, diarrhea, loss of the sense of taste or smell, children with purple markings on fingers or toes.
Meanwhile, New Brunswick’s premier says entering the third week with no new cases is “cause for cautious optimism.”
“We must remain diligent in our efforts to keep New Brunswickers safe and healthy,” Premier Blaine Higgs said. “Throughout our country and in neighbouring jurisdictions there are new COVID-19 cases, and sadly deaths, daily. We must stay on guard and take precautions until a vaccine is found.”
The province announced 308 new test results on Sunday, all of which returned negative.
