New Brunswick has only four active cases of COVID-19 and no one is in hospital with the virus.
This is the twelfth day in a row with no new cases and the confirmed total remains at 118.
As of April 30, there have been 14,177 tests performed in the province.
After weeks under lockdown, chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says many are asking, when will life return to normal?
“Life will return to a different version of normal and we will learn to live with this virus until an effective vaccine or some other treatment is available.”
Russell adds governments and businesses will have to adapt and innovate to find the best ways to reduce the transmission of the virus.
“It is very likely that New Brunswick will see COVID-19 cases in the coming weeks and months,” said Russell.
“Preparations must be made for a second wave of infections that may strike later in the year.
Other jurisdictions have learned a painful lesson about the cost of rushing back to normalcy. I want us to learn from their experiences,” she added.
