Premier Blaine Higgs says planning for the recovery of the COVID-19 pandemic in New Brunswick is still in the early stages.
Higgs says an all-party cabinet committee meeting is scheduled this week.
“We must reopen our communities and our province methodically and gradually to ensure that we do not set ourselves back.”
Higgs says we’ve had few or no cases recently but he adds we are still surrounded by COVID-19 and vulnerable to what happens in other provinces.
For that reason, he expects New Brunswick’s borders will remain closed for some time to come.
Meantime, charitable organizations in New Brunswick will be eligible for financial support from the provincial government.
The funding will provide eligible small to medium-sized non-profits with grants between $500 and $10,000.
Higgs adds this assistance is designed to address gaps within the existing support being made available by the federal government.
