Medavie Health Foundation has announced a $5 million donation to support Canadians during the pandemic.
The donation will go towards mental health support and to combat food insecurity.
C.E.O. Bernard Lord says the first phase of the funding will be used to support the immediate needs of the communities and then they’ll look at what’s needed beyond the pandemic.
“As we think about the transformation that will be required from society looking beyond the pandemic, this funding will also assist with much-needed recovery efforts in helping organizations find new and innovative ways to provide essential services,” Lord said.
A release issued by Medavie indicated the mental health portion of the funds would target adolescents and frontline health care workers coping with anxiety related to COVID-19.
