The Department of Natural Resources has delayed the fishing season and the spring bear hunt in New Brunswick. which were supposed to start over the next two weeks.
Premier Blaine Higgs says this decision will be re-evaluated at the end of this month.
“I am a fisherman and I love the outdoors and I want to get back into that situation in the coming weeks and months … as soon as we possibly can and can do it safely.”
Higgs says if New Brunswickers stay the course and continue to follow the guidelines under the pandemic, we will make a difference.
Public gatherings of any kind are prohibited this long weekend in New Brunswick under the current state of emergency.
Higgs was concerned about a couple of planned ATV rallies.
But he adds the provincial ATV organization has said it is not sanctioning any events this weekend.
