Antibacterial wipes and sanitizing solutions are beginning to run low even for provincial suppliers.
Roberto Mosca, a cleaning solutions specialist, said it feels like the phones haven’t stopped ringing.
“These things all of a sudden became gold. It was crazy. So now, as you can imagine, we had a great month but the issue now is that the demand is higher than the supplies,” he said.
Mosca said it isn’t just hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies and the like looking for cleaning supplies, but places like offices are using the items more because they’re likely sanitizing and cleaning regularly throughout the day.
“We have a backorder, I think I have about five inches of paper of backorders for sanitizers and dispensers and disinfectant wipes, disinfectant sprays, equipment,” he said.
Mosca said because of the demand, he’s still working on orders which should have been sent out two or three weeks ago.
“We do get a few products coming in but we have so many customers who need them and so we don’t get enough. So the issue is that we do get them in, but we get them in slower, and we get them in smaller amounts,” he said.
Mosca said the majority of the supplies come from the United States and now they come at a much slower rate than he’s used to because they’re being prioritized for U.S. companies first.
He said he doesn’t know how long this demand will last for, but orders are delayed by months.
Mosca said it’s great to be in business still and he feels fortunate to be able to work. He said the work he’s doing is helping keep people safe and in a clean environment.
