Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government is still working on national projection models to have a better picture of the pandemic.
He says the measures already in place are saving lives and that everyone needs to keep doing their part to stop the spread.
Trudeau announced additional funding for organizations who look after some of Canada’s most vulnerable populations.
The federal government is providing $157 million to address the needs of Canadians experiencing homelessness through the Reaching Home program.
They also announced $14 million for women’s shelters and sexual assault centres.
An additional $10 million will be contributed to emergency shelters to help indigenous women and children fleeing violence.
Trudeau also plans on speaking with U.S. President Donald Trump in the coming days.
He hopes to change his administration’s decision to prohibit the sale of N-95 masks to Canada.
Meanwhile, he says they still have access to the necessary equipment.
