The province is screening all healthcare workers on their way into a shift to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Front-line workers are asked a series of questions related to the symptoms most commonly associated with the virus.
Horizon New Brunswick’s Director of HR, Maura McKinnon says that they are taking the assessments seriously.
“If at any point in time they answer yes to any of those questions they are sent home,” she said.
Healthcare workers exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will be tested and asked to self-isolate while they await their results.
The province has been communicating directly with healthcare workers during the pandemic, and McKinnon says they have provided daily updates for employees, and set up a toll-free number for their use akin to 811.
“If they are feeling they have symptoms and they need to be discrete, they are to call that number,” said McKinnon.
On Wednesday, health officials announced there have been healthcare workers who have tested positive for COVID-19.
It was also announced that nursing home employees are required to have their temperature taken before entering the building.
