For a second day in a row, New Brunswick has no new cases of COVID-19.
The province has 17 cases and all are either travel-related or close contacts with an existing case.
In taking steps to improve efficiency in testing processes, chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell noted the laboratory at the Georges-Dumont Hospital is now able to confirm cases of COVID-19 which means tests don’t have to be sent to the national lab in Winnipeg anymore.
Meanwhile, Dr. Russell offered her thanks to those who have been listening to the advice from public health.
“To those who have closed their businesses and suffered financial losses and uncertainty as a result, I say thank you. To everyone who has taken a few extra minutes to thoroughly wash their hands several times a day, I say thank you. To every parent who has kept themselves and their family members safe at home, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Dr. Russell says she understands this is a difficult and stressful time for many and it can often be heartbreaking.
