Effective Thursday, March 19, 2020, Saint John Transit passengers will be asked to use the rear doors for boarding and exiting. For those with disabilities, mobility issues and wheelchairs requiring the use of the ramp for accessibility, the front door will continue to be used. These measures are being taken as a result of the Commission’s commitment to safe social distancing practices, as recommended by public health officials.
Effective Thursday, March 19, 2020, all fares for transit services will be temporarily suspended. The changes in fare collection are in response to keeping passengers and employees safe from the spread of COVID-19, and are not intended to encourage increased use of transit services.
Passengers who are feeling ill are asked to avoid using all transit services.
Saint John Transit has already taken measures to help reduce the spread of disease, including:
- Daily cleaning
- Enhanced disinfecting cleaning for high touch areas including stanchions, hand straps, stop buttons, doors, and seat tops
- Detailed cleaning as required for each bus
- Established social distancing at the fare box

Saint John Parking Update
In accordance with the recommendations from the Office of the Medical Officer of Health, the City of Saint John has transitioned to an essential services only delivery model, effective March 18, 2020. Parking enforcement is not considered an essential service and has been temporarily suspended at this time. As we all have a role to play in the response to COVID-19, we ask that all motorists continue to respect our Parking By-laws. We thank the public for their continued understanding and support.
