Drivers coming into Saint John from the Kennebecasis Valley on Highway 1 will not be able to use the Rothesay Avenue exit for much of next week.
On Friday, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI) announced the westbound off-ramp will be closed from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily starting Monday.
The closure is expected to last until next Friday, but that could change depending on the weather.
“The closure … is necessary to allow for staff to safely do curbing, asphalting and underground duct/wiring work,” read the statement.
“Similar periodic closures will be required before the project is completed and DTI will continue to provide updates as necessary.”
The work is part of an ongoing project which will see traffic lights installed at two intersections on Rothesay Avenue: at Rothesay Road and the Route 1 westbound off-ramp.
The department said the current closure under the CN Rail bridge will continue until the end of September.
