The Green Party appears to be picking up steam in New Brunswick at the expense of the NDP.
At a news conference in Moncton on Tuesday, 14 candidates who previously ran for the NDP provincially formally announced they were joining the Greens.
Provincial Green Party leader David Coon recognizes that changing political parties is not an easy decision to make and he’s thankful and grateful.
“The experience that these former NDP candidates and organizers bring isĀ invaluable,” he notes.
Coon adds it’s a humbling experience to welcome these individuals to the Greens who were dedicated for such a long time to their former party.
Jonathan Richardson, a former federal NDP executive member, is also making the switch because he says the NDP doesn’t have a path to victory.
“But they are more attached to the branding than the ultimate goal which is to help people… and I am here to help people,” he said.
