Two years after a St. Stephen teen vanished without a trace, Mounties now believe he was the victim of a homicide.
Brayden Thibault was 17 years old when he was last seen on Fredericton’s north side on July 31, 2017.
Police have previously said Thibault’s disappearance was suspicious and suspected foul play.
But Const. Jullie Rogers-Marsh said they now believe, through their investigation, that he is deceased
“We believe someone or more than one person is responsible for his death,” said Rogers-Marsh on Tuesday.
The update on the investigation came one day shy of the two-year anniversary of Thibault’s disappearance.

Rogers-Marsh urged anyone with information — no matter how big or small it may seem — to come forward.
“We know that there are people who know what happened to Brayden and where his remains are located, we know there are people who may have heard others talking about what happened to Brayden,” Rogers-Marsh said.
“We want those people to do the right thing and contact police or Crime Stoppers.”
Rogers-Marsh said the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit will be searching “areas of interest” for Thibault’s remains in the coming weeks, but declined to elaborate.
“We want to bring him home and give some sense of closure to his family,” she said.
