A routine outing to a local swimming hole near Welsford turned into a rescue operation on Monday.
Fire crews from Welsford and Hoyt were called to the Clarendon area shortly after 4 p.m. Monday.
Dave McCready, chief of the Welsford Volunteer Fire Department, said a woman was climbing down to the swimming hole with friends when she injured her ankle.
Because the slope was so steep and rocky, McCready said they had to use a stokes basket to rescue her.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, he said.
Fire crews were on scene for just under an hour.
