A man arrested after a fatal weekend crash in Charlotte County has made his first court appearance.
Kyle Hargrove of Bocabec is charged with one count of impaired driving causing death.
The 27-year-old man appeared in Saint John provincial court Monday afternoon. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return for a bail hearing Thursday.
RCMP said they were called to a single-vehicle crash on Clarence Ridge Road in Rollingdam shortly before midnight Saturday night. They said the driver of an SUV lost control, causing the vehicle to roll several times.
Police said a 27-year-old woman from Johnson Settlement died at the scene. Court documents identify her as Katrina Kinney.
Four other people were taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
‘Country Girl’
Kinney is being remembered as a strong-willed and independent woman who was always willing to help a friend in need.
She was a self-proclaimed “country girl,” according to her obituary, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and telling stories around a campfire.
Kinney also loved country music and spending time with her two nephews and one niece. She also leaves behind her parents, brother, and many other family members and friends.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon in St. George.
