Saint John’s newest councillor for Ward 3 was officially sworn in on Tuesday.
David Hickey received nearly 33.7 per cent of the vote in the latest by-election, beating six other candidates for the job.
Hickey says he’s excited to get to work.
“It’s like jumping onto a rowing team while they’re halfway through the race, and I very much intend to grab an oar and to keep up,” he said.
He joins Donna Reardon as co-councillor for Ward 3, one of the smallest wards with a bustling population.
It’s also home to three of the city’s five priority neighbourhoods.
Reardon says she’s glad to have him on board, and have some help tackling issues their residents face.
Hickey spoke on a number of agenda items during his first council meeting, offering his thoughts on AIM’s location in his ward, and the Area 506 move.
