There could be some new jobs coming to the Sussex area.
Provincial officials are taking part in an announcement at the Nutrien Mine Facility on Monday morning.
Energy and Resource Development Minister Mike Holland will be on hand, along with Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Oliver, and Sussex-Fundy-St. Martins MLA Bruce Northrup.
Few details have been released, but in a media advisory on Sunday, the province said it is an “announcement concerning jobs.”
The Sussex area was dealt a blow in early 2016 when operations at the Picadilly potash mine were indefinitely suspended, leaving more than 400 people without work. Last November, company officials announced the mine would be closed for good.
The town of Sussex has been working with other government partners to explore the potential of extracting geothermal energy from the site.
