It is that time of year again — property assessment and tax notices are now in the mail.
Some have been bracing for big increases after assessments were frozen in 2018.
But the province says lifting the freeze is not expected to have much of an effect.
It says the real estate market has not experienced major growth in property values, resulting in “minimal impact” on assessments.
A special team of assessors has been set up to deal with those impacted by the 2018 flooding.
They visited about 3,000 flooded properties and calculated assessments based on info provided by homeowners at the time.
You have 30 days after the mailing of your new or amended tax bill to request an assessment review.
