The Saint John Sea Dogs have missed the playoffs for the first time in several years.
The Sea Dogs (21-43) dropped their final two regular-season games over the weekend.
Saint John finished the season in 17th place with 42 points, four ahead of last-place Victoriaville.
They needed to be among the top 16 teams in order to advance to the post-season.
New Brunswick’s two other Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League teams will be competing in the playoffs.
That includes the Moncton Wildcats, who won the regular season with 108 points, well ahead of second-place Rimouski.
The Wildcats won 53 of their 64 regular-season games and are coming off a 15-game winning streak to wrap up the regular season.
Also in the playoffs are the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, who finished the regular season in 11th place with 69 points.
This will be the team’s final season before they move to St. John’s for next season and become the Newfoundland Regiment.
