Reports of rodents at a Saint John school prompted an inspection by WorkSafeNB.
A spokesperson said they inspected Prince Charles School in the city’s south end on Friday.
“We have not issued any orders and are monitoring the situation to ensure appropriate corrective measures continue to be implemented,” Lynn Meahan-Carson wrote in an email to our newsroom.
Meahan-Carson added that the school is “willingly working” to rectify the issue.
A spokesperson for the Anglophone South School District, which the school is part of, did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
However, Jessica Hanlon told CTV News Atlantic that the school took immediate steps to address the issue, adding that there is no risk to staff or students.
Hanlon said there are protocols in place for this type of situation, such as extra cleaning staff and sealing any potential entrances for pests.
The 72-year-old school will soon be replaced with a new school in Rainbow Park, which is due to open in September 2027.
