An intense low pressure system will bring a mixed bag of weather to New Brunswick over the next couple of days.
Rainfall, freezing rain and wind warnings are in place for much of the province, along with a special weather statement.
Western and central regions of the province are under a freezing rain warning, including:
- Edmundston and Madawaska County
- Fredericton and southern York County
- Grand Falls and Victoria County
- Grand Lake and Queens County
- Mount Carleton – Renous Highway
- Oromocto and Sunbury County
- St. Stephen and northern Charlotte County
- Stanley – Doaktown – Blackville area
- Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County
- Western half of Restigouche County
- Woodstock and Carleton County
Environment Canada said between four and six hours of freezing rain is possible overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday.
A rainfall warning has been issued for western New Brunswick and the Fundy Coast, including:
- Edmundston and Madawaska County
- Fredericton and southern York County
- Grand Falls and Victoria County
- Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County
- Saint John and County
- St. Stephen and northern Charlotte County
- Western half of Restigouche County
- Woodstock and Carleton County
Between 25 and 40 millimetres of rain is possible between Wednesday morning and Thursday morning, with locally higher amounts possible in some areas.
The rest of the province is under a special weather statement, including:
- Bathurst and Chaleur Region
- Campbellton and eastern half of Restigouche County
- Grand Lake and Queens County
- Kent County
- Kouchibouguac National Park
- Miramichi and area
- Moncton and southeast New Brunswick
- Mount Carleton – Renous Highway
- Oromocto and Sunbury County
- Stanley – Doaktown – Blackville area
- Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County
Rainfall amounts of more than 25 millimetres are possible. Wind gusts of 70 to 80 kilometres per hour are also forecast, with higher gusts along the coast.
In addition, a wind warning has been issued for Saint John and County, Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County and the Acadian Peninsula. Wind gusts up to 90 kilometres per hour are possible overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.
