Another winter storm will bring heavy rain and snow to New Brunswick to wrap up the weekend.
A rainfall warning continues for most of the southern half of the province, including:
- Fredericton and southern York County
- Fundy National Park
- Grand Lake and Queens County
- Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County
- Oromocto and Sunbury County
- Saint John and County
- St. Stephen and northern Charlotte County
- Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County
Precipitation began as wet snow mixed with freezing rain Sunday morning and will change to rain throughout the day.
Environment Canada says 25 to 45 millimetres is expected by late Monday, with the highest amounts over southwestern regions of the province.
There are no warnings for Greater Moncton and southeastern New Brunswick, but that does not mean there will be no precipitation.
Snow mixed with rain will begin late Sunday afternoon and change to rain late in the evening. The forecast is calling for up to five centimetres of snow and between 10 and 25 millimetres of rain by Monday evening.
Meanwhile, a winter storm warning is in effect for northeastern New Brunswick, including Miramichi, Bathurst, and the Acadian Peninsula.
Up to 40 centimetres of snow is expected by Monday afternoon, with additional snowfall amounts possible Monday night.
Wind gusts up to 70 kilometres per hour are also forecast, but meteorologists say blowing snow is unlikely as temperatures will be near or just above freezing.
A snowfall warning is in effect for central and northwestern regions of the province, including:
- Campbellton and Restigouche County
- Edmundston and Madawaska County
- Grand Falls and Victoria County
- Mount Carleton – Renous Highway
- Stanley – Doaktown – Blackville Area
- Woodstock and Carleton County
Those areas will see between 25 and 35 centimetres of snow before it begins to taper off on Monday. The snow will mix at times with rain in some communities.
