Saint John police have made an arrest in connection with a bizarre assault investigation uptown.
The incident happened at a building in the Waterloo Street area over the noon hour on June 22.
Police say a 47-year-old man walking down the stairs with a cane was punched in the neck and threatened by another man.
“The suspect entered the building and reportedly complained that the victim was too slow,” police said in a news release at the time.
According to police, the suspect later left the building, turned right, and walked north on Waterloo Street toward Richmond Street.
Investigators released video surveillance footage of the suspect along with a description five days after the incident.
Police said after receiving two tips from the public, they arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the incident at around 1:45 p.m. Friday.
“He was subsequently released on an undertaking to return to court on October 13, 2022,” police said in a news release on Tuesday.
