A deal has been reached between Port Saint John and the Canada and the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees
On Thursday, UCTE, a subset of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, voted in favour of a new agreement.
The four-year deal includes substantial wage increases along with increases in allowances and better overtime hours.
Chris Bussy, regional UCTE vice-president for the Atlantic region said they worked closely with this local through the bargaining process.
“UCTE/PSAC members are pleased to have reached an agreement with the employer,” said Bussey. “We believe that this is a step by Port Saint John to recognize the important work that our members do every day that contributes to the overall economy of the community.”
The deal also includes new language on anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and anti-workplace violence.

“We are pleased to announce that management and the PSAC/UTCE at Port Saint John have reached a four-year agreement. Both parties are very positive about the outcome and we look forward to working with our unionized employees over the next several years as Port Saint John continues to grow and modernize.”
